Begin by grabbing your supplies:

How to Wrap the Perfect Gift

Step 1: Measure the wrapping paper

First, roll out the wrapping paper. Lay your gift horizontally on the paper. Be sure there is enough wrapping paper to fold over the top of the gift and cover it entirely. There should also be about an inch to an inch and a half of extra paper on both the top and bottom side of the gift.

Step 2: Cut the paper

Once the paper is correctly measured, cut the wrapping paper. Use the Little ELF Gift Wrap Cutter to get an easy, straight cut every time. It has revolutionized the gift wrapping industry by taking the headache out of wrapping presents!

Step 3: Fold the paper

Let’s get to wrapping! Now, lay the gift vertically on top of the paper. Place the gift face down so the bottom of the gift is facing up. This will make sure the gift looks perfect from the top of the gift. To begin, take the right side of the paper and fold it over the top of the gift. The edge of the paper should be in the center of the gift. Secure the paper to the box with a piece of tape.

Step 4: Fold the other side of the paper over

Fold the left side of the paper up and over the top of the gift in the same way. Secure the paper to the box with a piece of tape. Make sure that the paper overlaps on top of the gift so the gift is completely covered in wrapping paper.

Pro Tip: To make the present look even more professional and polished, crease the wrapping paper along the edges of the box.

Step 5: Wrap the first end of the gift

Next, wrap the first end of the gift. Pick one end to start wrapping. Using both hands, push the shorter ends of the paper towards the gift to fold in the sides. Lay both sides flat against the box.

Step 6: Fold the top flap down

Press the flap of paper at the top down to lay flat against the box.

Step 7: Fold the bottom flap up

Lastly, pull the remaining flap, at the base of the gift, up. This completes wrapping the first end of the gift. Smooth out any creases or wrinkles with care to give it that perfect, polished look.

Step 8: Tape

Add a piece of tape to hold the end in place. Use the Little ELF Gift Wrap Tape for a perfect, simple, and crisp finish on all holiday gifts.

Step 9: Wrap the other end of the gift

Repeat this same process on the other end of the gift. Begin by pushing the shorter ends of the paper in towards the gift. Fold the top flap down towards the box. Then, fold the final flap, that is at the bottom of the gift, up towards the top.

Step 10: Tape

Use a piece of tape to secure the fold snugly to the box.

Pro Tip: Once the gift is fully wrapped, crease all the edges and folds for a clean and polished look.

How to Make the Perfect Bow

(Optional Steps)

Step 1: Grab the ribbon

After you have wrapped your gift, finish it off with the perfect present topper - a beautifully tied bow. This trick is very easy to do and is sure to impress everyone. Grab some ribbon. This bow looks best when done with a thicker ribbon to better hold its shape and be a statement piece of the gift. Use a piece of ribbon that is about 60-70 inches in length. This will allow enough length to make a nice big bow.

Step 2: Wrap ribbon around box

Bring your gift and place it horizontally in front of you. Take the ribbon and slide it under the paper so it lays the long way under the gift. Be sure the ribbon is laying flat against the underside of the box.

Step 3: Adjust the ends of the ribbon

Pull the ends of the ribbon up from under the gift. Adjust the placement of the ribbon so that the right side of the ribbon is double the length of the left side.

Pro Tip: The trick to making this look perfect every single time is how you start the bow. So, pay close attention to the next step!

Step 4: Cross the ribbon

Cross the ribbon across the top of the gift to the opposite sides. Grab each side of the ribbon with the opposite hand.

Step 5: Cross the ribbon again

Pull the ribbon that is now in your right hand up towards the top of the gift. As you do that, pull the left hand down towards the bottom of the gift. This will create a cross in the ribbon at the top of the gift.

Step 6: Wrap the ribbon around the box

Wrap the bottom ribbon around the bottom of the gift. This was the ribbon that is in your left hand and is the longer piece. There will be enough ribbon length to wrap underneath the entire present and bring it back to the top of the present.

Pro Tip: Make sure the ribbon is laying flat against the underside of the box and that it is not twisted or folded.

Step 7: Thread the ribbon through the knot

Once the longer ribbon has wrapped around the bottom of the gift and comes back to the top of the present, thread the end of the ribbon through the middle of the knot. Pull the ends of the ribbon tight to secure it against the box.

Step 8: Tie the bow

All that’s left now is to tie a bow! You can tie this however you typically tie a bow. Make sure to pull it tight at the end.

Pro Tip: Fluff out the bow and shape it exactly how you want. If you use a ribbon with wire, it will hold its shape even better!

That's it!

And, there you have it, a perfectly wrapped gift with a beautifully tied bow! This can be your go-to gift wrap this holiday season. It is a super simple technique but perfect for every present under your tree.
